Eating disorders, struggles with weight management and eating problems can be difficult, costing years of frustration, unhappiness, and a sense of failure and self-blame. But effective treatment of eating disorders and empowering coaching to help with weight management is available. Having a healthy relationship with food and body is what Optimal Eating is all about. Food and eating can be a pleasure, and body image can be strong and healthy.
Welcome to Optimal Eating and the Psychotherapy and Consultation Practice of Jane Rachel Kaplan, PhD, MPH. Dr. Kaplan
was a licensed clinical psychologist treating adolescents, adults, couples and families in private practice in Albany, near Berkeley, California
for over 40 years.
In addition to her years of experience helping those with food and eating problems and weight management issues, she helped people dealing with anxiety, depression, transition, and relationship issues. Her approach
was both sensitive and pragmatic.
Dr. Kaplan was noted for her compassionate, state-of-the-art approaches and effective treatment.
To help people reach these goals, Dr. Kaplan conducted many kinds of therapy and education, including individual, group, and family therapy, and consultation and educational workshops. Her goal
was to help, hearten and support the patient as he or she recovers from the disorder, builds self- and body-esteem, and integrates new learning into a healthier, more productive lifestyle.
